Awaiting the Child of the Universe

Imagine a timeline is set out before you that is about three feet long. It begins with the explosive beginning of the universe and ends in this moment, on this day. As you look at this long history of our world and all that surrounds it in space you realize that the human being only shows up on the timeline in the last inch. The human is relatively new to the universe and if we tried to find the point in time when Jesus was born on that first Christmas day we would need to have a high-powered microscope to pinpoint that precise moment. Yet that microscopic moment signals the beginning of a new day. On that day new light dawns and an old universe is renewed.
During this Advent season you are invited to find the new life of the Cosmic Christ which is birthing in your heart and in the universe. The prophets foretold His coming and their message is ever new and always heartening for those in need of hope. Into the darkness of our world Jesus longs to find hearts that are large enough to embrace His creations and His love. May we hear Him at the door of our inn and bid Him enter during this season of grace.
