The Sound (s) of Silence
Enter into the Mystery of life. Enter a New Year.
Enter into the silence … the silence of a Yuletide Tree; the silence of a hospital room; the silence of a star-filled night; the silence of one’s heart and being.
Enter into and go deeply into the Silence that envelops you.
Hear it speak to you.
Listen…listen and embrace. Embrace the mystery- the silent screams and messages.
Enter into them; embrace them; embrace the Mystery.Silent Mystery speaks loudly; you cannot avoid it. Silent Mystery presents us with an option: choose life or choose death! Choose, so you don’t just fall into a pattern of living that avoids decisions. Consciously feel, listen to and ponder the messages of silence; the messages of Mystery. Embrace them as they encircle you. Let the Mystery enfold you and engulf you and reveal to you its message.
Choose it, share it and graciously let it lead you each day ever more fully into Life.S. Mary Shaw, asc
The Feast of the Presentation of the Lord
~St Sophronius: Bishop and Early Church FatherOur lighted candles are a sign of the divine splendor of the one who comes to expel the dark shadows of evil and to make the whole universe radiant with the brilliance of his eternal light. Our candles also show how bright our souls should be when we go to meet Christ.
The Mother of God, the most pure Virgin, carried the true light in her arms and brought him to those who lay in darkness. We too should carry a light for all to see and reflect the radiance of the true light as we hasten to meet him.
