ASC Mission at Center of New Offices
When the main offices of the United States Region of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ moved from suburban St. Louis County to south St. Louis city in August 2007, it signaled both a shift in the Sisters’ wants and needs for office space and an opportunity to blend ASC values with that space.…more

Ministry of Leadership
So large and diverse a community of nearly 400 Sisters and their Associate and co-worker partners in some ways is like a business with a highly spiritual focus – a company that is about doing God’s work. Such a company requires other Sisters who support and sustain those toiling in the vineyard.  This issue, then, offers some insights into the ministries of leadership and service within the community of Adorers and how these women view their callings.…more

Alternative Healing Ministries
The last issue of New Vintage chronicled the history of the US Adorers’ ministry in conventional institutional health care — hospitals and retirement facilities. While that ministry continues through three retirement communities, another has grown over the years, that of complementary or alternative therapies. Several Adorers are involved in such ministries. A few of them share their stories and the ways in which these ministries advance and reflect the congregation’s charism. …more.

Pioneering a Healing Presence
This ministry was pioneering in two ways. First, in 1900 when Clementine decided to admit aged and infirm lay Catholics to St. Clement’s Hospital along with Sisters (followed closely in time by medical cases) it marked the congregation’s first formal institutional involvement in health care ministry in its history. Second, this kind of rapid growth and the much faster expansion yet to come was pioneering, too – that of going where the needs are and meeting them whether you have been there before or not – the hallmark of ASC ministry.…more.

The Call to Preach
In our times, when the shortage of priests is an important issue for the Church, the priority of preaching needs to be addressed. All Christians, by virtue of Baptism, are called to preach the Good News of God’s Saving Love given as gift to each of us. As Paul said: "For if I preach the gospel that gives me no ground for boasting. For necessity is laid upon me. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel ( 1Cor 9:16)." Just as there is great diversity of peoples and gifts, so, too, is there great diversity in the way each of us is called to preach.… more.

To Be Church is to be in Mission
Over the last seventy years, we have seen developments in the theology of mission. We have moved from women religious and Brothers being "auxiliary" to being "integral" to mission. We have shifted from mission seen as acts of charity to identifying mission as the heart of church. We have altered our emphasis on the church sending missionaries to the origin of mission in the missio Dei.…A further significant development in mission theology is that, given both the forced migrations of peoples and the effects of globalization, we now think in terms of mission on six continents, including Europe and North America. In other words, to be church is to be in mission, wherever one is. …more.

The Heart of the Church
This issue of New Vintage features the stories of some of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ who minister in myriad ways in parishes across the hemisphere. Their titles vary from Associate Pastor to Co-Administrator to Pastoral Associate; from Director of Religious Education to Part-time Religion Teacher. But all of them enhance the vitality of their parish communities through their energy, love, wisdom and compassion. Their parishes honor their contributions daily and, with this issue, so do the Adorers.…more

Happy Birthday Maria!
In celebrating the bicentennial of St. Maria De Mattias’ birth, February 4, and the 171st anniversary of the founding of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, March 4, United States Sisters, Associates and co-workers prayed and feasted together and, equally importantly, emulated the Foundress with numerous works of service to their "dear neighbor" across the land. This issue of New Vintage highlights some of the ways in which the US-ASC family said "Happy Birthday, Maria!"…more
