Polish City Names St. Maria Patroness
“On May 18, 2008, five years to the day that Adorers’ foundress Maria De Mattias was canonized by Pope John Paul II, the city of Boleslawiec, Poland declared her their patroness in civic ceremonies and a Mass. After World War II, Polish people who had fled their homeland for Croatia and Bosnia began to be repatriated, and with them came Sister Lidwina Sikora and seven other Adorers of the Blood of Christ. They established themselves in Boleslawiec and began serving the needs of their people. Eventually, the community grew and is now an ASC Region based in Wroclaw. The U.S. Region Leader, Sister Jan Renz, attended the ceremonies and took the photographs on these pages.
